About Me

Thanks for visiting!

My acoustic guitars and I have played venues from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach since 2002, and I'm very proud to be a part of this local music scene. Having worked hard to establish myself as a fine vocalist and an adept self-taught guitarist, I bring an enthusiasm and love for what I do to every show. My play list reflects an eclectic selection of over 200 songs including classic rock, alternative & modern rock, country, Irish pub songs and a few select originals. I offer the song list for requests and tailor the music to the crowd on hand. View or download the current song list using the Song List "button" on the website.

My mom introduced me to music while I gestated in her womb. Later, my parents inducted both my younger brother and I into junior choir as kids. Mom was choir director at base chapel for practically my entire prepubescent life and quite often she was both the adult and children's director. Dad always sang in adult choir and was never shy about taking on a solo. Mom also plays pipe organ and piano, and taught piano up until just a few years ago. She did offer to teach me at age six but I was a bit stubborn and refused. Looking back on those days I see I missed a great opportunity.

I finally purchased an Aria acoustic guitar when I was 15 or 16 from Temple of Music and began to teach myself chords and play along with whatever I was listening to at the time. Fast forward to 2002 when an ex-con and my ex convinced me to learn enough material and form an acoustic duo. Within two months I learned nearly 60 songs and purchased my first PA system. My first gig was The Jolly Frog in Va. Beach with the ex-con on congas. Leaving the ex's behind in early 2003 I continued to add new material and venues and meet new friends, many associated in some way with music.

Today I typically perform solo but also play as a duo with Mike Sykes aka Bisqit on saxophone. Mike graduated from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va. in 2001 with a double major in Jazz Studies and Music Industry. Mike has performed professionally for many years including a stint with well known regional band Fighting Gravity based out of Richmond, Va. The Bisqit has proven to be a good buddy and always takes the time to answer my questions about music theory or sound engineering. I still love to frequent venues that offer acoustic entertainment and often sit in with musician friends or play a short set whenever asked. Seems I just cannot get enough music into a typical day.

Songwriting is a huge attraction to me. I'm working towards arranging my days to include more time devoted to that challenge. Should you attend a show, just ask for an original and I'll be happy to perform a few. I have posted two demos "Matters" and "Set the Hook" on the website.

I play out with several Takamine guitars. Sound gear includes the Bose L1 System II amplification system, Fishman SoloAmps, and Peavy powered head. Everything is well suited to push sound through any room or venue I have played.
